Affiliate Summit West 2012 is officially opening today. It is taking place in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, with more than 5000 registered visitors arriving from all around the globe, the biggest Affiliate event ever. The main keynotes speaker for Affiliate Summit West 2012 are Jon Spoelstra (January 9), Eric Thomas (January 10) and Jeremy “ShoeMoney” Schoemaker (January 10).
What can we expect from this year’s Affiliate Summit?
With more than 5000 registered people to meet, the networking is the main attraction around, second only to what Vegas has to offer… Affiliate Summit is the biggest Affiliate meetup in the world, occurring only three times a year: January in Vegas, May in Austin (a new smaller event, for only few hundred attendees) and August in New York. Nowhere in the world could you meet so many great affiliate minds in the same room, allowing you to set up very important relationships and explore new opportunities, while parting and enjoying yourself. After all, in Affiliate Summit, networking is the name of the game so pack along with your business cards a friendly face and a liver capable of heavy drinking, since drinking is what you are going to do, and plenty of it… In the morning after, waking up with a minor headache, you might think to yourself: this guy is fun drinking with, let’s try do business together…
Beside the main event there are many smaller ones (usually parties), taking place all around Vegas, where the Networks are rewarding affiliates for their performance. These great night events are the reason you can find so many empty seats at the morning Keynotes…
Some details about Affiliate Summit West 2012:
Affiliate Summit founded by Missy Ward and Shawn Collins in 2003. Affiliate Summit West 2012 will be the nineteenth Affiliate Summit conference. While in the first Affiliate Summit, back in November 2003, there were only 200 of us attending NYC conference, it grew over time and exactly a years ago, 4627 arrived to Affiliate Summit East (Vegas) 2011.

Attendees at Affiliate Summit events break out into five main categories: agencies, affiliates, merchants, networks, and vendors. As you can see below, more than a quarter of attendees at Affiliate Summit are the Affiliates themselves. The Affiliate Networks share the same number, while Merchants, Agencies and Vendors comes in smaller numbers. Never the less, it is common to see the same people changing seats every year, so you can expect to see people arriving in Vegas as Affiliates, only to come in August as Vendors etc.
